Paint! Paint! Paint!

Well, the entire house has been painted!  All 22 gallons!  There is a primer and coat on the ceiling, primer and coat on the walls,  and a primmer and 2 coats on the trim and the doors. It was a stretch in the end but now it is done!  

 

 

 

A Girl Can Dream... Right?

Well... we still did not close on the house yet.  But I have a few thoughts up my sleeve for the outside of the house. I drive by the house probably once a day so I have some ideas in my head.  Here is what the house currently looks like.Then I photophoped in a few things to put on my to-do list.  You can click on the picture to make it bigger.  What else would you add? 

 

 

Choosing a Paint Color

Heather has a been a great friend for a long time.  I love to ask her any type of design question because I always like to hear her opinion.  This question was about paint.  

• My message on facebook: I know I am ahead of myself but I am thinking of paint colors. I want a off white color. I kind of like more yellow off whites and my mom likes more brown off whites. I want to do the entire house in the same color (except maybe the upstairs bathroom). What do you think?
  
• Heathers response:   I did my house along those lines for the most part. I actually picked two strips that are both the color schemes you said. The beige that was yellow golds went down stairs and the browner beige tones went upstairs. I learned from all the makeover shows that if you are working with a smaller space it feels larger if you take colors from the same family and use them through out. The bathrooms were the only things I did colors like you said. And the top part of Brett's office is a pebble blue because his carpet in his office is navy and it was new. The old man tried hard and put new carpet in three rooms but I could only stand the colors in the two upstairs bedrooms. 

Good tips Heather!  I guess I just need to get some paint chips and look at them in the light of our new house! 

Let the Planning Begin!

 

Well the house is not officially ours yet.   The inspection is on Friday.  But here is a picture of the dining room taken from the living room.  

We would like to get rid of the green carpet and put in laminate floors.  The question is install it ourselves or have someone do it for us?  I have been told light and dark laminate shows dirt, so I am not sure on the color.  Heather has dubed the green carpet "putting green".  I am thinking a little darker.  Then I would to take down the boarder, paint the walls a light tan and the trim white.  Tang asked me what I wanted for a house warming gift and I said "A Painter".  I then would like to change the light, and paint the back door that is currently green a white because it is an outside door.  Finally new bamboo blinds for the windows.
