Picture ideas with Kitchen Tranformations

We are thinking about new counter tops.  Basically we wan to get rid of all of the green in the house. An idea would be to try Modern Master Transformations. Here is what it may look like before and after:

Found a Kitchen Table!

Well I found a kitchen table at the salvation army in Lock Haven.  I have been stalking it for a couple days without knowing the price.  I finally decided to see if was still there, and ask the price.  It was still there and it was $10.  SOLD! (I also bought the cute flower basket that is on the table for $2)

Blinds!

We started adding window treatments to the house.

Here are the blinds for the bedroom.  We decided to go with room darkening blinds because I need it really dark to sleep.  I even put tape over led lights in the room.  Yes it is that bad.

Here are the shades for the rest of the house.  They are more reasonable at $17 each from Kmart.  I think they look great in the windows.  I decided to go with mounting them in the window, because I think they look more tailored this way. I can't wait to get the curtains up!

New Shudders!

After

We installed our new shudders!  My Dad worked with the shudder company before to get new shudders.  To get new ones all you have to do is prove that your shudders have faded.  They then sent us new shudders!  They were a little frustrating to install, but they are now on! Pretty nice change for free shudders.

Appliance Installation

Well here is a sneek peak at the appliances.  They still need to be installed after the floors are added.  We boughg them early because there was a great labor day sale at Lowes.
We had to redo the cabinet above the stove to add the vent.  We actually bought a new cabinet, stained it, and put it in.  I am really happy with the outcome.  I can't wait to move in so we can use it.  It looks like that will not be for 3-4 weeks because of the carpeting.

Conserve Water, or the Fish Will Die

This is an interesting concept (Shared from my friend Dave)

Conserve Water, or the Fish Will Die: "

Whenever you use Yan Lu's "Poor Little Fishbowl Sink," water in the above fishbowl drains, resulting in a life-threatening situation for its resident goldfish. That's a clever way of reminding us that our wasteful practices can directly affect other creatures (and that, for much of the world, water issues are matters of life or death).

Half Bath

The half bath should be finished by the contractor by the end of the week!  We will still need to paint, and complete the floor and trim.  Really excited!

Painting the Stairwell

George got this great ladder that allowed us to paint the rest of the stairs.  He did a great job!  I was happy he did not have me do any of the painting up there.

Lights!

After many trips of just walking around Lowes and getting some ideas, I found kitchen lights!  These lights were originally $160 for $42 + $10 off, so I got them for $32!  I guess persistently looking at Lowe's for deals payed off this time.
Here is an image of the box.
All of the materials came with the light.
The pieces all look nice already!

Here they are now! :)

Mail Box Makeover

Before: This is what we got when we purchased the house.  The mail box did not even have a flag.

After: We purchased a new mail box ($12), painted the pole white ($4), and got house numbers ($2 each) on both sides of the pole. Then added some flowers and mulch.  It probably only took 15 minutes!  It to more time to shop for what I wanted!

Paint! Paint! Paint!

Well, the entire house has been painted!  All 22 gallons!  There is a primer and coat on the ceiling, primer and coat on the walls,  and a primmer and 2 coats on the trim and the doors. It was a stretch in the end but now it is done!

Dinning Room Lamp

I picked up the new dinning room lamp from Lowes.  I had it delivered to the store.  I was so excited to see how shinny and pretty it was, so I opened the box.  I guess I need to put it all together :/.  I should have figured that out myself.  Can't wait til we hang it on the ceiling.
